More Info...As promised

So, here is the rundown on the last 2 weeks. Derek was born on October 14th at 11 a.m. He was 5 lb 11 oz and 18 inches long. We recieved an email the night of the 14th that there was a baby boy in Florida that needed an adoptive family. We decided to throw our name in the hat. Friday morning we recieved a call that we had been chosen to adopt Derek. We were shocked, thrilled, excited, anxious...you name it!

Dereks birthmother had no medical care during her pregancy (it was her 11th child) guess she didn't feel like she needed it. Anyways, because there was no care, Derek was given a preventative 10 day run of antibiotics. We got to Miami when he was a week old and we spent the week visiting him at the hospital and running around Miami.

This is our first time meeting Derek in the NICU.

Derek was finally discharged last wednesday (2 weeks old). We have had a great time getting back into the schedule of a newborn. As an added bonus, we get to get used to this new schedule on vacation, not in our real world. We spend our days in our hotel room playing games, reading, watching tv, etc... and snuggling our new little boy.

We have to stay in Florida until Derek can get released from Florida and get accepted in Wyoming. We have been told this process takes 5 business days but we are hoping to speed up the process if at all possible. We are anxious to get our little family all together - Anna and JP are having a great time at Grandmas, but we miss them so much! They are both excited to meet Derek.

Derek is a great baby. He is a good eater and a pretty good sleeper. His nights and days are a little mixed up, but we are working on that. He loves to snuggle and we love to help him with that. It is fun getting acquainted with our new little guy.

Here are a few more pics of Derek for your viewing pleasure.

This pic is so you can see how tiny he is in his pac n play.

Homecoming 2009

This last weekend was homecoming for the University of Wyoming. It is our tradition to be in the homecoming parade and, of course, go to the game. So on Friday we loaded up and headed to Laramie. We had to travel on some pretty precarious roads...but had a great time anyways! Here are some pics of the weekend...

We spent the night with our friends, The Livingstons. This is their deck on Saturday morning. Lots of snow fell Friday night. I am thinking in the neighborhood of 8 inches.

The bus Saturday morning. It took a little convincing to get the bus to start...but she is a trooper!

Josh the fearless bus driver during the parade.

The kiddles and I throwing candy through the door. It is our favorite perch for parades.

The game was great! Just a little on the chilly side! :) The cowboys won 37-13. Plus, we all made it through the game without getting hypothermia...an added bonus.

Thanks for everything Livingstons! We can't wait till next year!

Home sick...and sick of home...

We are now on day 3 of yuck sick at our house. I was hoping the kids would be better by now so they could go to school today...but no such luck. So, today...to mix things up, we played hopscotch. And what can I say...the kids are naturals!

And we made some chocolate chip cookies.

Cute! Sick....but cute!

Sadly, this morning, the bug got me too...Here's hoping we can kick this cold before the weekend.

What we have been up to...

I am happy to say that we are finally getting used to the new fall schedule at our house. The kids absolutely love school and their other activites. We are definatly a lot busier this year than last. So, since I haven't blogged in a while...I thought I would share some of the things we have been doing lately. (In no particular order) :)

Playing in Flaming Gorge:

Boating....We bought a boat! (Doug and Erica came to help us play on the water.)

Another trip to the zoo. This time with Grandpa!

Playing with babies. (This is our new friend Eden. Anna loves holding her so much!)

Going to the Rock springs Homecoming parade...and getting tons of candy.

And enjoying overall day. One of my favorite days...

That's all for now! Hope you enjoyed the update!

Another trip to the zoo...

We took the kids to Salt Lake for our annual zoo trip. The kids really enjoyed themselves this year. The best part about the trip this year was that the kids were finally old enough to help out!

The kids love the carousel and the train.

And it was confirmed to me that I have 2 monkeys on my hands...

Every year we get a pic by the tigers.... kind of fun to compare!

Another great trip...can't wait until next year!

The first day of school....

Today was a big day in our house. My kiddles had their first day of preschool. They have been axiously awaiting this day for weeks now - they have worn their backpacks every day since we bought them. Here are my babies on their first day of school...

When I picked them up this afternoon, Anna said "Mom, I wanna come back here everyday!" I guess that means it was a success.
